The Local Government Zero Waste Initiative is a pilot project designed with assistance from the EPA to help local governments across the nation advance zero waste principles and associated strategies, by identifying ways to reduce material use upstream and better design existing source reduction, reuse and recycling programs to eliminate waste at end-of-life.  New Paltz (Town and Village) has been offered the opportunity to partner with EPA as one of thirteen municipalities nationally to create a Zero Waste Action Plan and EPA Road Map for other municipalities to follow.

As part of the New Paltz Zero Waste Initiative several interactive workshops were held to establish a list of community supported ideas and to create working sub-committees so goals/objectives and programs could be implemented. Information from all workshops and committee meetings is posted below.
