Compost and Mulch The New Paltz ReUse and Recycling Center has compost made on site through a natural process of mixing source separated food waste and freshly ground mulch together and allowing it to heat up until it's all broken down into a beautiful dark soil before we screen it. Compost can be used to prepare gardens for planting at the beginning or end of the growing season.
